1. The Book Thief

This book is a wonderful historical fiction novel that takes place during World War II. It is narrated by Death and follows the young Liesel and her life in Nazi Germany. From heartwarming friendships to unexpected twists and turns the story is definitely worth the read.

2. Code Name Verity

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book is an incredible and heartwarming story about a friendship between a pilot and a spy set in World War II Nazi-occupied France. We would definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves stories of friendship and perseverance even in the hardest of circumstances. It is definitely a more difficult read but if you can stick through the slight confusion of the first half you will definitely find that the story is worthwhile.

3. To Kill a Mockingbird
Genre(s): Historical Fiction
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a classic that deserves all its praise. It takes place during the Great Depression and is narrated in a witty and funny way by Scout. It draws comparisons between the children and the adults as it follows two storylines both with the message not to judge a book by its cover. Overall this book is definitely worth a look.

4. The Watcher
Genre(s): Historical Fiction, Children's Literature
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
This book is an easier read but still really good. It takes place during WWII and is about a girl who is kidnapped and taken to Nazi Germany. She is forced to navigate through this new and unfamiliar world with only her trusty dog companion to confide in. It is a great story and a lighter read. Although the ending is a bit abrupt I would still recommend giving this story a look if it sounds interesting to you.
